AAFHA supports Warrior Canine Connection |
A few months ago we were contacted by Janet Paskalakis, a volunteer at Warrior Canine Connection. Warrior Canine Connection is a wonderful organization that helps veterans to train service dogs, a two year process, so that they can be paired with and assist a wounded veterans. In this way, each of their dogs are able to assist multiple veterans as a form of therapy, emotionally support, and physical assistance. Janet explained that one of their service dogs is named in honor of Benjamin Clarke Jr. and she was asking about the type of dress uniform Benjamin Clarke Jr. would have worn while he served so that she could make his namesake an appropriate vest.
Clarke was in the 8th Air Force, stationed in England with the B-17 Shangrila Lil in the ball turret position. After sharing a few pictures Janet asked about the patches Clarke would have worn. AAFHA donated the two patches then Janet went work and was able to come up with a beautiful detailed Class A vest that was far beyond what we had expected! Here is Clarke in his spiffy new uniform with the B-17 Aluminum Overcast. Well done Janet! Thank you for letting AAFHA play a small part in this. A big thank you to Clarke, his veteran, and all the wonderful people at Warrior Canine Connections for their service and the fabulous work they do! 🇺🇸 🐾 Here is the link to their website if you want to check out the amazing work they do. They also have a Facebook page: https://warriorcanineconnection.org/ Benjamin Clarke Jr. is the first on the left in the front row.
