For over 20 years, AAFHA has been remembering and honoring the history of WWII aviation. We paticipate in public forums and airshows like MAAM WWII Weekend in Reading PA, Open House Airshows at McGuire AFB, and our "Hometown" Airshow at the Greenwood Lake Airport. We march in the Riveredge July 4th Parade and the SGt. John Basilone Parade in Raritan, NJ, and participate in local Pearl Harbor Commemorations. Our private member only events include our Annual Dinner Dance and Picatinny Luncheon.

More recently the AAFHA Squadronaires WWII Revue have been performing for Veteran, seniors and historical societies at various venues throughout the Tri-state area.  Here are some photo albums from our long and distinguished history! From the most recent to our ancient past, scroll down the history of the Army Air Forces Historical Society! To see our upcoming show schedule, and photos from our MOST RECENT events go to our Mission Schedule page.

December 10, 2018   We were honored to be invited by our friends in U. S. Coast Guard Aux. FLOTILLA 10-01 at AIR STATION LINCOLN PARK, to meet and hear Steven Bolcar of Boonton, New Jersey.  Mr. Bolcar is a 101 years old WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Army Air Forces as a ball turret gunner on a B-24.  He is as sharp as a tack.  It was an honor to meet and speak with S/Sgt. Bolcar. AAFHA's own Lt. Bob Grenz is 94 and served as a Bombardier on B-24s during WWII and B-29s during the Korean War. Lt. Grenz regalled us with several stories of his service and was presented with a beautiful framed certificate from Flotilla 10-01Cmndr. Steve Schepis.

  LIVING HISTORY DAYS AT NYHS

AAFHA had a great day  honoring our veterans at the New York Historical Society. Joining NYHS educators explaining “Fighting Foods:” How to Eat for Victory!, and our new friends from the 6888 Central Postal Battalion and the 92 ID. We had plenty of visitors and spent several hours explaining the Homefront and the Life of a WWII Airman.

With the U. S. Coast Guard Aux. FLOTILLA 10-01 at Lincoln Park Airport:  July 9, 2018

It was an honor for Alyssa to be asked to sing the National Anthem and for AAFHA to be invited to the July 2018 meeting of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 10-01 at the Lincoln Park Airport Sunset Pub & Grill on Monday, July 9, 2018.Alyssa was also asked to sing a full set of her 1940s standards with an introduction by yours truly perfroming as Bob Hope, accompanied by Col Albert J. Parisi. From Commander Steve Schepis "Alyssa Martin was fabulous. There was a point in the presentation when she was singing the National Anthem acapella and a light breeze began to cause the U.S. flag to flutter. I was so choked up at the sight, I almost began to cry. I looked over and noticed many people in the restaurant standing at their tables with their hands over their hearts. It was truly a memorable evening."

May 4-6: McGuire AFB: Power in the Pines Airshow!

We were honored to bring our display to McGuire AFB for the bi-annual Power in the Pines Airshow. Hundreds of visitors toured our diaplay tables manned (and Womanned) by 9 of AAFHA's finest Living Historians!  There’s nothing more exciting than the roar of supersonic jets overhead and Power in the Pines delivered an exhilarating showcase of both military and civilian air power. Coupled with a plethora of ground displays, exhibits, concessions and live entertainment.  ‘Power in the Pines’  featured aerial performances by the U.S. Air Force F-22 Demonstration Team, the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Demonstration Team, the U.S. Army Parachute Team, The Golden Knights, and flyovers by military and civilian aircraft and a P-51 Mustang and B-25 Mitchell Bomber "Miss Hap". We had a special photo shoot with our gregarious WWII Veteran, LT. Bob Grenz with the American Air Power Museum's B-25 "Miss Hap"!
