Mission

Male members of the AAFHA - Teterboro Airport - Fall 1999The Army Air Forces Historical Association® consists of volunteers from all walks of life who share a common interest - a desire to help preserve this part of our aviation heritage.  For some the interest comes from relatives who served.  For veteran members who flew, manned or maintained the famous bomber, fighter and transport aircraft, it is a chance to share their memories with a younger generation.

Association members wearing original flight gear and uniforms of the time, are not re-enactors, but living historians who movingly explain and re-tell the tales of the harrowing experiences of the World War II veterans.  The war years of the 1940's take on a special meaning otherwise lost in history books or films.

In celebrating the association's achievements, the New York Times said of the AAFHA:

The group does not glorify or condone war, far from it.  But for many, it fills a patriotic need as well as showcases for a younger generation the reasons their fathers or grandfathers fought and what they accomplished.
